KEYNOTE TALK 2026-2027
The science behind the practice of standing out.
You're not imagining it: everything is starting to look and sound the same. Marketing, products, LinkedIn profiles. The candidates you're interviewing, your own portfolio. You want to build something different. You long to stand out. But it's risky, right? Nobody ever got fired for following the well trod path. What if great work wasn't a choice between safety and creativity? What if you could make your own weirdness... work? Discover the science behind why being weird works — in marketing, product strategy, career paths, and org design. It's not just a matter of letting your own freak flag fly. There's a systematic — yet creative — method for putting your weird into what you and your team do. In this new talk based on published research, case studies, and years of experience building global products and brands, I'll:
All presented in a lively vintage video game style that will have your participants itching to get their hands on the controller and start living their best, weirdest lives. Ready to grow your own way? Fully customizable to your situation and team. Can be delivered as a 30- or 45-minute talk.
Marketing, brand, content, and product teams. B2B SaaS go-to-market orgs. Startups and scale-ups that want to stop playing it safe and start generating real breakout results.
I joined HubSpot in its earliest days, when it was just a small, ambitious startup in an incubator space. I was the founding editor and writer of the company's award-winning weekly newsletter, The WIN, for thirteen years. I held the role of Product Editor-in-Chief up to and through the years of our IPO, where I defined the brand voice and trained the whole company in how to use it. I founded and led the global HubSpot Content Design team, working to extend our brand voice, culture, and product experience across new markets, new languages, and new product footprints. Then I led UX and product-led growth at Agent.ai, an agent builder tool and marketplace designed just for SMB, created by HubSpot cofounder Dharmesh Shah. That project is now the basis for HubSpot's acclaimed new Agent Hub. Since then I've worked with other teams and brands, helping them tell the stories that will help their best customers and candidates find them. I offer a range and depth of experience in crafting clear story journeys that speak to, attract, and retain the people and users you most want to reach. If you've been struggling to answer questions like:
What do we offer that no one else does? What stories help us connect with our best people? How can we use those stories to attract, convert, and retain those people at scale?
Then we should definitely talk. I've helped dozens of teams do that and more.
